Privacy & Data Protection Policy
Last updated: 11 August 2026
1. Overview
This policy explains what data JargsLedger collects when you use our website and Telegram bot, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it. We built JargsLedger to give traders a private, trustworthy record of their own sales, and the same principle applies to how we treat your data: we collect only what the Service needs to work, and we don’t sell it.
2. Information we collect
Account information. Your username, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password (we never store your password in plain text; see Section 5).
Sales data. Everything you log: the item, quantity, price, total, and date of each sale; the raw text of what you typed or said (used to improve accuracy of future entries and to let you review what was originally said); and any custom fields you’ve defined for your own business (for example, a customer name or a batch number).
Voice recordings. If you use voice input, your recording is sent directly to our speech-to-text provider to be transcribed into text. We don’t store the audio file itself after transcription. Only the resulting text becomes part of your sales data.
Telegram data. If you choose to link a Telegram chat to your account, we store your Telegram chat ID so we can deliver and receive messages there. We don’t access your other Telegram chats or contacts.
Technical data. Like most web services, our servers keep standard connection logs (such as IP address and timestamps) for security, rate-limiting, and troubleshooting purposes.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, and to authenticate you when you log in;
- To interpret what you say or type into structured sales entries;
- To show you your ledger, revenue summaries, and exportable statements;
- To deliver and respond to messages if you’ve linked Telegram;
- To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and security issues;
- To communicate with you about your account or material changes to our Service or policies.
We do not use your sales data to train AI models, and we do not sell your personal data to anyone.
4. Third parties we share data with
We rely on a small number of specialist infrastructure providers to run JargsLedger. We only share the minimum data each one needs to do its job, and we don’t publish the specific vendors we use as a matter of operational security, but in general terms:
- Speech-to-text processing. If you use voice input, your recording is sent to a specialist transcription provider to convert it into text. We don’t send your name or account details along with the audio.
- AI sales-parsing. The text of what you typed or said (plus your own custom field definitions, so the system knows what to look for) is sent to a language-model provider in order to extract structured sales data from it.
- Telegram. If you link a Telegram chat, we use Telegram’s Bot API to send and receive messages with that chat.
- Database hosting. Your account and sales data are stored with a reputable managed database provider, secured as described in Section 5.
We don’t share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else outside what’s needed to run the Service. We may also disclose information if required to by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of JargsLedger or our users.
5. How we protect your data
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt before storage; we never see or store your actual password. Sessions are authenticated with signed tokens rather than server-side session data that could be hijacked. All data submitted to the Service is validated and access to your account’s data is restricted to you. We apply rate limiting across our API to reduce the risk of automated abuse. No system is perfectly secure, but we design and actively review JargsLedger with these protections as a baseline, not an afterthought.
6. Data retention
We keep your account and sales data for as long as your account is active, or as long as needed to provide the Service to you. If you ask us to delete your account (see Section 7), we’ll delete your personal data and sales records within a reasonable time, except where we’re required to retain something for legal or security reasons.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate data (you can also edit most of your own data directly in the app);
- Delete your account and associated data;
- Export your sales data (available directly in the app as CSV or PDF, any time, from the Financial Blueprint view).
To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@jargscormark.com from the address associated with your account, and we’ll respond as soon as we reasonably can.
8. Local storage, not tracking cookies
JargsLedger doesn’t use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. To keep you signed in, we store your session token in a secure, http-only cookie tied to our own domain. It’s used solely to authenticate your requests to our own API, not to track you across other websites.
9. International data transfers
Some of the providers listed in Section 4 may process data on servers located outside your own country. Where that happens, we choose providers that maintain appropriate safeguards for the data they process on our behalf.
10. Children’s privacy
JargsLedger is intended for business use by traders and shop owners, not children. We don’t knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll remove it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or our data practices. If we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
